How do I access my Virginia Tech Network-Attached Storage (NAS) space in Mac OS X v10.2/10.3/10.4?

Answer:

Important: Before you can access a NAS space, you must first create it using the Hokies Self-Service pages. For more information, see Creating Your Space on the Virginia Tech Network-Attached Storage (NAS) in Windows 2000/XP, Mac OS X, or Linux (http://www.answers.vt.edu/ask4help/ad_min/vtkb2113.htm).


  1. To make Finder the active application, click on your desktop.
  2. From the Finder menu, select Preferences.
  3. Click the General icon.
  4. Under Show These Items on the Desktop, place a check in the Connected Servers check box.
  5. Close all windows.
  6. From the Go menu, select Connect to Server.
  7. Use the connection method that applies to the NAS space you are trying to access.
  8. Click the Connect button.
  9. In the Workgroup/Domain text box, type: hokies
  10. In the Name or Username text box, type your Hokies ID.
  11. In the Password text box, type your Hokies password.
  12. Click OK.

A drive will be created on your desktop for your NAS space. The drive will be named differently depending on the type of NAS space to which you have connected:
