How do I locate and restore files from my Virginia Tech Network-Attached Storage (NAS) space in Windows 2000?

Answer:

Important: You will need to be able to view hidden files and folders to complete these instructions. For instructions on how to view hidden files, see Displaying or Concealing Hidden Files and Folders in Windows 2000 (http://www.answers.vt.edu/ask4help/desktop/vtkb2115.htm).
  1. Connect to your NAS space. For instructions, refer to the appropriate article below:
  2. From the Start menu, select Search, and then select For Files and Folders.
  3. In the Search for Files and Folders Named text box, type the name of the file you want to locate.
  4. In the Look In text box, type: \\storage.vt.edu\[Your mystore location]\~snapshot

    Notes:
  5. Click the Search Now button.
  6. If prompted:
  7. Use the Modified field to determine which version of the file you want to recover.
  8. Drag the file to the appropriate place on your computer.
