Question:
How can I verify that the latest service packs and critical updates are installed in Windows 2000?
Answer:
Important: You must log on to an account with computer administrative privileges.
Repeat the following until all updates are installed:
-
Go to Microsoft's Windows Update page (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com).
-
If you are prompted to trust Microsoft's site, click the Yes button.
-
Click the Scan for Updates link.
-
Click the Review and Install Updates link.
-
Install all updates.
-
If there are no asterisks (*) next to any of the updates listed, click the Install Now button.
-
If there is an asterisk (*) next to one or more of the updates listed, those updates need to be installed separately. For each update with an asterisk next to it:
-
Select an update with an asterisk (*).
-
Click the Remove button beside all the other updates listed.
-
Click the Install Now button.
-
After reading the license agreement, click the Accept button.
-
Click Next.
-
Select the I Agree option.
-
Click Next.
-
Click OK to restart your computer.
