How do I configure Eudora 6/6.2 for Mac OS X v10.4/10.5 to connect to the Virginia Tech Exchange Server?

Outlook for Windows and Entourage for Mac OS were designed to be the e-mail clients of
choice when accessing an Exchange server. If you use any other e-mail client, you should expect some quirks. For Outlook and Entourage instructions, see the appropriate information:

Faculty and staff members can find information about getting an Exchange account on the Exchange page (http://www.computing.vt.edu/email_and_calendaring/exchange/index.html). Students, alums, faculty, and staff members can find information about their VT Mail account on the VT Mail page (http://www.computing.vt.edu/email_and_calendaring/vt_mail/index.html).
To configure Eudora to connect to the Exchange server via IMAP:

Start Eudora.

From the Special menu, select Settings.

From the list on the left, select Getting Started.

In the User Name text box, type: [Your Hokies ID]
Note: Replace [Your Hokies ID] with your Hokies ID.

In the Mail Server text box, type: exsecure.vt.edu

In the Real Name text box, type your name as you want it to appear on messages you send.

In the SMTP Server text box, type auth.smtp.vt.edu

In the E-Mail Address text box, type: [Your Hokies ID]@exchange.vt.edu
Note: Replace [Your Hokies ID] with your Hokies ID.

From the list on the left, select Checking Mail.

Select the IMAP option.

From the list on the left, select Sending Mail.

Place a check in the Allow authorization check box.

From the list on the left, select SSL.

From the SSL for SMTP drop-down list, select Required (Alternate Port).

From the SSL for IMAP drop-down list, select Required (Alternate Port).

Click OK.
Important: When checking your Exchange e-mail account, you must use your Hokies ID and password.
