To configure OS X Mail to connect to the VT Mail server:

1. Configure your VT Mail account to use the Mac OS X Mail client.
   • If you do not have an account set up in OS X Mail:
     1. Start Mail.
     2. In the Full Name text box, type your name as you want it to appear on messages you send.
     3. In the Email Address text box, type: [Your PID]@vt.edu
        Note: Replace [Your PID] with your PID.
     4. In the Incoming Mail Server text box, type: pop.vt.edu
     5. From the Account Type drop-down list, select POP.
     6. In the User Name text box, type your PID.
     7. In the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) text box, type: auth.smtp.vt.edu
     8. Click OK.
     9. If you want to import mailboxes from another client, click the Yes button.
     10. In the Enter Password for Account window, click Cancel.
     11. From the Mail menu, select Preferences.
     12. Click the Accounts icon.
     13. Select your VT Mail account.
   • If you have an account set up in OS X Mail:
     1. Start Mail.
     2. From the Mail menu, select Preferences.
     3. Click the Accounts icon.
     4. Click the Plus Sign (+) button.
     5. From the Account Type drop-down list, select POP.
     6. In the Description text box, type: VT Mail
     7. In the Email Address text box, type: [Your PID]@vt.edu
        Note: Replace [Your PID] with your PID.
     8. In the Full Name text box, type your name as you want it to appear on messages you send.
     9. In the Incoming Mail Server text box, type: pop.vt.edu
     10. In the User Name text box, type your PID.
     11. From the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop-down list, select Add Server.
     12. In the Outgoing Mail Server text box, type: auth.smtp.vt.edu
     13. Click OK.
2. Select the Account Information tab.
3. Click the Server Settings... button.
4. In the Server Port: text box, type: 465.
5. Place a check in the Use Secure Sockets Layer(SSL) check box.
6. From the Authentication: drop-down list, select Password.
7. In the User Name text box, type your PID.
8. Click OK.
9. Select the Advanced tab.
10. Place a check in the Use SSL check box.
Note: When the check is placed, the port number will automatically change to 995.
11. Close the Accounts window.
12. Click the Save button.
