How do I configure Outlook 2003 to connect to the Virginia Tech Exchange Server?
Answer:
Important: Faculty and staff members can find information about getting an Exchange account on the
Exchange page
(http://www.computing.vt.edu/email_and_calendaring/exchange/index.html). Students, alums, faculty, and staff members can find information about their VT Mail account on the
VT Mail page
(http://www.computing.vt.edu/email_and_calendaring/vt_mail/index.html).
To configure Outlook 2003 to connect to the Exchange server:

Start Outlook.

Start the E-mail Accounts Wizard.

If you have not previously configured an e-mail account, the configuration wizard will open automatically.

Click Next.
-
Select the Yes option.

If the wizard does not start automatically:
-
From the Tools menu, select E-mail Accounts.

Select the Add a New E-mail Account option.
-
Click Next.
-
Select the Microsoft Exchange Server option.
-
Click Next.
-
In the Microsoft Exchange Server text box, type: exchange.vt.edu
-
Clear the Use Cached Exchange Mode check box.

In the User Name text box, type your Hokies ID.
-
Click Next.
-
Click Finish. Outlook will prompt you to log on.
Note: If the logon screen does not appear automatically, close all windows and restart Outlook.

Log on to your account.

If you are running Windows with no previous Outlook installations:
-
In the User Name text box, type: Hokies\[Your Hokies ID]
Note: Replace [Your Hokies ID] with your Hokies ID.

In the Password text box, type your Hokies password.

If you have had previous Outlook installations:
-
In the User Name text box, type your Hokies ID.
-
In the Password text box, type your Hokies password.
-
In the Domain text box, type: Hokies.
-
Click OK.

Important: When checking your Exchange e-mail account, you must use your Hokies ID and password.
