How do I configure Entourage 2004/2008 to connect to the VT Mail server?
Answer:
Start Entourage.
From the Tools menu, select Accounts.
From the New drop-down list, select Mail.
In the New Account window, select Pop from the drop-down menu.
Click OK.
In the Account Name text box, type: VT Mail
In the Name text box, type your name as you want it to appear in messages you send.
In the E-mail Address text box, type: [Your PID]@vt.edu
Note: Replace [Your PID] with your PID.
In the Account ID text box, type your PID.
In the POP Server text box, type: pop.vt.edu
Click the Click here for advanced receiving options button.
Place a check in the This POP Server Requires a Secure Connection (SSL) check box.
Click outside the box to make it disappear.
Under the Sending mail section box, in the SMTP server field, type: auth.smtp.vt.edu.
Click the Click Here for Advanced Sending Options button.
Place a check in the SMTP Server Requires a Secure Connection (SSL) check box.
Place a check in the Override default SMTP port.
Change the port to: 465.
Place a check in the SMTP server requires authentication box.
Click the button next to Use same settings as receiving mail server.
Click outside the box to make it disappear.
Click OK.
