Question:
How do I configure Windows Mail in Windows Vista?
Answer:

Open Windows Mail.

Click Tools and select Accounts from the drop-down menu.

Click the Add button and select E-mail Account.

Click the Next button.

The Internet Connection Wizard window will open. Type your name in the text box labeled Display Name:

Click the Next button.

If given the choice, make sure the option button for I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use is selected.

Type your VT PID@vt.edu in the text box labeled E-mail address:
Note: Replace VT PID with your PID.

Click the Next button.

Make sure POP3 is selected in the Incoming e-mail server type:

Type pop.vt.edu in the text box labeled Incoming Mail (POP3 or IMAP)
server:

Type auth.smtp.vt.edu in the text box labeled Outgoing e-mail (SMTP)name:

Place a check in the check box next to Outgoing Server Requires
Authentication.

Click the Next button.

Type your VT PID in the text box labeled E-mail Username:.

Remove the check from the Remember Password check box.

Click the Next button.
-
Click the Finish button.

Select the Mail tab.
-
Highlight your Virginia Tech mail account(pop.vt.edu) under Mail.

Click the Set as Default button.

Click the Properties button.

Select the Advanced tab.

Under Outgoing mail (SMTP), place a check in the check box next to
This Server Requires a Secure Connection (SSL). Change the port number from 25 to 465.

Under Incoming mail (POP3), place a check in the check box next to
This Server Requires a Secure Connection (SSL). The port number next to Incoming mail (POP3) will automatically change from 110 to 995.

Click the OK button to exit the Properties window.

Click the Close button to close the Internet Accounts window.

You can now check your mail by clicking on the Send/Recv button on
the tool bar, or by selecting Send and Receive/Send and Receive All from the Tools menu.
