How do I configure Eudora 6.2.1 for Windows to connect to the Virginia Tech POP Mail server?

To configure Eudora to connect to the VT Mail server:

  1. Start Eudora.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Options.
  3. From the Category list on the left, select Getting Started.
  4. In the Real Name text box, type your name as you want it to appear on messages you send.
  5. In the Email Address text box, type: [Your PID]@vt.edu
    Note: Replace [Your PID] with your PID.
  6. In the Mail Server (Incoming) text box, type: pop.vt.edu
  7. In the User Name text box, type your PID.
  8. In the SMTP Server (Outgoing) text box, type: auth.smtp.vt.edu
  9. Check the Allow Authentication checkbox.
  10. From the Category list, select Checking Mail.
  11. From the Secure Sockets When Receiving drop-down list, select Required, Alternate Port.
  12. From the Category list, select Sending Mail.
  13. From the Secure Sockets When Receiving drop-down list, select Required, Alternate Port.
  14. From the Category list, select Advanced Network.
  15. In the Network Buffer Size Of text box, type: 40960
  16. Click OK.
